Today is another sad day in music; Marvin Isley (first from the right in the picture), the bassist for the Isley Brothers' spinoff 3+3 and younger brother of the three main Isleys, died at the age of 56 in Chicago. Before forming for the 3+3 album, Isley formed his own group with older brother Ernie and brother-in-law, Chris Jasper. In the 1970s, Marvin was known for his strong bass lines in songs like "Who's That Lady," "For the Love of You" and "Fight the Power." In 1984, he was part of the Isley-Jasper-Isley group after 3+3 broke into two and scored a hit with "Caravan of Love." In 1992, Marvin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his brothers. However, by 1997, he was forced to quit music because of his illness. Marvin will be missed and here are some of the classic songs he contributed to:
