I have not done this in a while, but there have been some videos I have been wanting to put here. So here I go:
1) JLS - Everybody in Love
Despite all his bluntness, Simon Cowell knows how to pick them. These guys are gorgeous in looks and voices; plus this is such a feel good song that will warm you up during the winter! Happy early Valentine's Day!!
2) Gavin - Good as Gold
She sounds like a "chipmunked" version of Lenka and although I usually do not like voices that are that high and babyish sounding, for Gavin it works! The song is adorably soulful!
3) Jay-z feat. Mr. Hudson - Forever Young
For those who think Jay-z is part of the Illuminati with his "Onto the Next One" video, here is an alternative. In contrast, this song is so positive, uplifting and unifying. Jay-z has definitely grown up, but guess what, the "Onto the Next One" Jay-z is what most people are probably expecting from him, not this side of him. I want more songs like this from Jay.
4)Chris Brown- Crawl
I know, I know. But I cannot help it, the song is nice. The lyrics, music and his voice work well together. I can separate talent from personal life most of the time. *sidenote: I still do not like Cassie's hairdo!
5) Janet Jackson - Make Me
I love the 80's vibe on this song and Janet is looking as young as ever (and just as adorable LOL)! However, she does to need wear outfits that allow her to move, especialy if she wants someone to make her move!
6) David Banner w/ 9th Wonder and Heather Victoria
Speaking of another rapper who has grown up. With a great beat by 9th wonder and a great message by Banner and Victoria, this should get more attention (but it probably won't in this industry).
7) Gil Scott Heron - Me and the Devil
Legendary Mr. Heron remaking a classic by the legendary Robert Johnson! A match of a lifetime!
8) Lupe Fiasco - I'm Beamin'
The content, his wordplay, the hook...do I need to say more as to why I love Lupe and think he is one of the best rappers right now!
9) Nneka - Heartbeat
Ok, I found out that Perez Hilton likes her (I do not know if I am creeped out by this yet). Anyways, I have been listening to this woman for a few months and I too have fallen for this girl, her message and her music. 10) The Gorillaz feat Mos Def and Bobby Womack- Stylo
The Gorillaz are back! Finally!! I cannot get stop listening to the beat and having Mos Def and Bobby Womack on this record boosted them up 1000 times with me!
11) Andreya Triana - Lost Where I Belong
Why does the UK always find a way to make me happy?! Here is another artists I have fallen for vocally. Everything about this song is soulful and beautiful.
12) The Foreign Exchange - I Wanna Know
Speaking of beautiful songs...This is the group that should have won the Alternative/Urban Grammy award. It is way better than most of the R&B trash out there at the moment. Also, I am loving seeing the loced sisters in the video!
13) Corinne Bailey Rae - I''l Do It All Again
Another returnee, Ms. Corinne Bailey Rae. After, the unexpected and sad death of her husband, she took a break. Now, Corinne is back with another one of her precious songs. This song actually makes me want to cry.
14) Lalah Hathaway w/ Eric Roberson - Where Do We Go From Here
Aww, star-crossed lovers!!! Thank you Lalah and Eric for making a bad situation sound so good!!
15) The Noisettes - Saturday Night
I saw a picture of from this video and wondered what is what about. Now I know and I am happy! I like the video concept and this is one of my favorites off the album (heck they are all my favorite at one point or another).
16) Sade - Soldier of Love
Sade never fails to deliver. Just like any of her other hits, this one is a classic! Her voice is classic!

Michael Franti & Spearhead: Say Hey
I love songs that make me smile and this is definitely one of them. Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby Mcferrin.
Michael Buble - Haven't Met You Yet
Speaking of songs that make me smile, Michael Buble proves once again how adorable and sweet he sounds and why when I listen to him, I think of a sentimental (at times mushy) Broadway musical. Watching the video only confirms what I've just said! Haha!
Georgia Anne Muldrow- Runaway
Three times a charm! A very uplifting song! Another reason why I love Neo-soul; it can be so positive, take you back to the days when music was so good and show you that music still has the potential to be that good.
Bebe and Cece Winans - Close to You
Okay, maybe four times! Anyway you interpret this song, whether for spiritual reasons or for love between two people, it is a beautiful, angelic song. If you are wondering why Bebe and Cece are on top of the charts, just listen to the song.
Ghostface Killah feat. Raheem Devaughn - Baby
Forget it, they all make me smile! When I heard this on a commercial, I was hooked immediately. Yes, I usually do not like songs that use auto-tune today (because it has been overdone), but with this song, it works! Plus, it is such a treat to see a man treat his lady and his unborn baby with such respect and love in lyrics and video.

Q-tip feat. Norah Jones - Life is Better
Q-tip and Norah Jones together on the same track equal creative bliss! If any of you had a bad impression of Hip-hop, you should definitely listen to this song! This is real Hip-hop to me!
Calvin Richardson - Woman's Got to Have It
Another "feel good" song! Covering Bobby Womack's classic song, Calvin would make any girl swoon for him. He should be the epitome of what R&B should sound like today, but sadly it won't be because many people don't want natural, real, soulful and positivity in mainstream R&B and Hip-hop.
N'Dambi - Can't Hardly Wait
This girl, from her hair to her voice, is so funky and beautiful! I could groove to this song all day! One day, I hope she and other artists like her get the full recognition they deserve.
Mary J. Blige feat. Drake - The One
I cannot help but dance to this! This song is for all the confident, self-assured, independent women out there! Only one problem, Drake needs to get off the track! He is too distracting and his rap did not fit with the flow of the song.
Melanie Fiona - It Kills Me
When Melanie came out with her first song, I thought she was good, but when I heard this song, I upgraded my thought to amazing. Her voice and the music brings me back to the R&B singers of the 90s, when it still had life in the mainstream. Real talent should not need much else to prove that it is good!

Paramore -Ignorance
I thought I loved their first album, until I heard this song! The song and the video sound and look are more raw and in a good way, too. (P.S. I know I used too many "ands." Ha. But that's how excited I am!)
Selena Gomez and The Scene - Falling Down
Why do I like this song? I cannot stand the chorus, I do not love Selena as a singer and she sings "You" strangely. However, the verses, the hook and the bridge are so catchy and I love how she sings "darling." Oh, the confusion in my head! On the bright side, this is not a typical Disney sound, so thumbs up to that!
Maya Azucane - Get It Together
I am always a fool for a positive song and a song like this should be one of those songs belonging to a new Civil Right Movement for our generation.
Paolo Nutini- Candy
He sounds older, but in a good way, a very good way! I feel like I am in the 70s with Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkle, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and the other singer-songwriters. It is such a beautiful song and definitely what I call a love song!
Laura Izibor - Don't Stay
Simply, her voice and this song have so much soul and depth and I can listen to her all day if I had to! I know it is sad song, but it still makes me smile!

When it comes to Drake's verse, I am feeling it, but right after his verse, the song goes downhill and I stop listening. At least Drake gaining a little of my respect again, especially after the "Best I Ever Had" video, the Blackberry Freestyle and that terrible "Forever" song.
Update: Listened to "Successful" and he lost a little of my respect again!

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear" (Update)
Time again for some new music, and with a few returnees! Woohoo!
Dwele - Travelin' Girl
Underground R&B and Soul is so much better than mainstream R&B and this guy is one reason why. Ever since I heard "I'm Cheating," I have loved his voice, sound and lyrics. This song has a strong horn section and Dwele's smooth voice fits it perfectly.
Creed - My Own Prison
Another artist that has returned! Creed proves that you can be a Christian artist, and still be just as good as any rock band out there and be real! Being a Christian is not always happy times, but at the same you have hope in the cross and this song puts that on my heart.
Adam Sandler - Real Love
After seeing "Funny People" and hearing this song, I want Adam to release a full Adam. The only time I have heard him sing was when he was doing SNL skits or a comedy album, but he needs to do a serious album because he has a sweet voice and he would make John Lennon proud if he heard this cover!
Pink - Funhouse
Pink can always take a song with a sad undertone and make it fun to listen to. She is as explosive as her video!
Miley Cyrus - Party In the USA
My problem with this song is that Miley is not right for it. It has the potential to be a good song and the melody is good, but when she opens her mouth, it sounds awkward and I do not like it as much.
Honor Society - Where Are You Now
Hearing this song makes me want to go see Bandslam. At first, I did not want to like this group because I thought they would sound like the Jonas Brothers and I do not like copycats, but they are actually good. Good choice, Jonas Brothers!
Whitney Houston - Million Dollar Bill/I Look to You
Our last returnee, Whitney! Once I got past the weird note at the beginning, I realized that the song has a nice old school "feel good" vibe to it and even though her voice does not sound as good as it did before, Whitney can still out-sing a lot of other singers out there now.
Not one of her powerhouse performances, but it is still a good song for her return and I am feeling it!
Now for my Huh? moment of today...
Jason Mraz ft Lil Wayne and Jah Cure - I'm Yours Remix
"I'm Yours" is one of my favorite songs and Jason Mraz and Jah Cure are two of my favorite artists, but why is Lil Wayne on here? But I will have to admit that he does sound better on here and his lyrics are good for a chance; why can't Lil Wayne sound like this more often? Still he does not fit with this song!

Smokey Robinson - Don't Know Why
Smokey and a Norah Jones cover equals magic! Like someone said he has the voice of an angel!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll
I kept forgetting to put this song on here, so here it is! I love the dance party and horror movie mix to this song! Creepy yet entertaining! The plus is an MJ werewolf and blood that looks like confetti (but then it would probably be too fun to kill people in real life)!

Okay, I only put this video here because Tia Mowry is in it, other than that it is your typical R&B pop song with autotune in it and not really memorable (and I know he can do better than that!). But at least Pleasure P is on his own because he was the best thing about Pretty Ricky (who were the other guys again?). What I do not get is the extra girl in the video and the corny bed/water scene; are those really necessary?

Fefe's Back! I love these songs and I can't stop listening to them! "I Want You" is reminiscent of The Ramones, simple but rocking! "Watch Me Move" is simply hot and she looks like Mick Jagger while dancing!

To put it simply, I am glad Kanye is rapping again, Rihanna's nasally voice fits the dark vibe of the video and song, but Jay-Z does not really fit in with the song. Also, the video makes me think of a cult version of "California Love" with Tupac and Dr. Dre. However, the song is not as epic as they might have wanted it to be. The song is good, not great, but good.

Talk about hot in here! Maxwell knows how to make anything sound so romantic and sexy! Also, the video with Kerry Washington is classy and naughty at the same time! Go, Maxwell!
Brendon Urie, Cee-lo, Janelle Monae, Patrick Stump, Travis McCoy - Open Happiness
The song and the video put a smile on my face! The plus is that everyone in the song are some of my favorite artists! Woohoo! Too bad it is for a Coca Cola commercial because I don't really drink it anymore. Oh well.
B.O.B (Bobby Ray) - Put Me On
Again, showing you what real Hip-hop is! Sampling Tribe Called Quest's Bonita Applebaum, this guy can sing and rap (unlike Lil' Wayne who makes no sense or steals rhymes and Soulja Boy who has no flow). I feel like I am back in the early 90s with this guy, when Hip-hop was at its peak.
Tanya Morgan - So Damn Down
Another Hip-hop track that should be on the top of the charts and should be a classic, too. I am loving the Jazzy feel to this song! These guys should be more popular.
Ledisi - Going Through Changes
Ledisi is amazing. Sultry, natural, beautiful - this is what R&B should sound like now. Just like Maxwell, she can make something that is bad or painful sound so good.
K'Jon - On the Ocean
Speaking of what R&B should sound like...This is my "feel good" music. It reminds of Otis Redding's "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" because of its eeriness, but it also sounds like the positive sequel to the song.

Jet - She's a Genius
I want to think this song is about me...haha! Jet is exciting and rocking, but what's with the video. I think the director was having some editing problems, ran out of film footage or high, and why is the girl in a wookie costume?
Bat for Lashes - Sleep Alone
This song sounds like something a minstrel would sing at a Renaissance fair mixed with the creepiness in a horror movie...I love it!
Amie Mirello - Brand New
Why am I always attracted to interesting-sounding voices? Amie's sound is like a mix of country, jazz and blues. The song feels genuine and fresh (just as fresh-faced as she looks). Two thumbs up and I hope to hear more from her!
Urban Rock Band - Black Morning
They call themselves Hip-hop meets the Beatles and I say more at Pearl Jam with this song. More creative and different than a lot of the mainstream garbage out there. Once again, proof that Hip-hop is not dead, one just has to seep through the trash floating above!
Thenewno2 - Yomp
If you know my favorite bands from the 60s to now, you will understand why I like this group and the song. I guess being George Harrison's son has its benefits! Dhani!
3 Doors Down - Let Me Be Myself
Most people have probably heard this song from the Geico commercial with the cavemen, well the video expands on this concept. When I think about it the song is too good to have a video like this; it distracts my attention from the emotional and uplifting element of the song. The song can be a hit without the funny gimmick of the cavemen.

Heavy D - No Matter What
Leave Heavy D alone! Stop trying to put the guy in a box; he is not the greatest reggae singer in history, but he is pretty good and the song is sweet!
Seether - Careless Whisper
A rock version of a classic George Michael song? I am not sure about this one, but Shaun's voice is great as usual. On the other hand, what's up with the "video game" video? I understand the 80s references, but am I suppose to laugh instead of take the song seriously?
Tyler Woods - Slow Jam/Relations
K'Jon and Tyler are my R&B heroes right now! Tyler is bringing back the old school slow jam. I am starting to beleive his statement that he is the next Curtis Mayfield and shouts to 9th wonder for introducing such talent.
Matisyahu - One Day
My favorite Reggae Jew is back! Matisyahu always finds a way to bring light and joy to my day!
Now for the so-so stuff....
Shakira - She Wolf (Loba)
What happened to the old Shakira, the one with darker colored hair and a guitar? Is it just me or is she trying too hard to be liked by the mainstream audience? Or maybe she just has too much bleach in her hair and the fumes are distorting her judgment. I guess after a while the song started to grow on me and it is good to dance to, but it is just not her best song.
Mariah Carey - Obsessed
Mariah Carey is another singer who I miss the old version of, but I do like the song and the video is funny (sorry, Em).

"Birthday Sex" made me sick, but at least this song is better, not great, but better. I just wish these guys who are not even that huge would stop bragging about how much they have or how hot they are when they probably do not have anything yet!
And finally for the biggest offender of them all...Soulja Boy and his S.O.D. Money Gang
S.O.D. Money Gang - Outer Space Flow
Wow! Okay, people, just because he is beats are good and he is making money does not mean Soulja Boy is a good rapper at all. He has no flow! As soon as he started rapping, I wanted to puch him out! However, I will admit that he is better, especially after "Crank Dat Soulja Boy."

Again, showing you what real Hip-hop is! Sampling Tribe Called Quest's Bonita Applebaum, this guy can sing and rap (unlike Lil' Wayne who makes no sense or steals rhymes and Soulja Boy who has no flow). I feel like I am back in the early 90s with this guy, when Hip-hop was at its peak.
Tanya Morgan - So Damn Down
Another Hip-hop track that should be on the top of the charts and should be a classic, too. I am loving the Jazzy feel to this song! These guys should be more popular.
Ledisi - Going Through Changes
Ledisi is amazing. Sultry, natural, beautiful - this is what R&B should sound like now. Just like Maxwell, she can make something that is bad or painful sound so good.
K'Jon - On the Ocean
Speaking of what R&B should sound like...This is my "feel good" music. It reminds of Otis Redding's "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" because of its eeriness, but it also sounds like the positive sequel to the song.

Jet - She's a Genius
I want to think this song is about me...haha! Jet is exciting and rocking, but what's with the video. I think the director was having some editing problems, ran out of film footage or high, and why is the girl in a wookie costume?
Bat for Lashes - Sleep Alone
This song sounds like something a minstrel would sing at a Renaissance fair mixed with the creepiness in a horror movie...I love it!
Amie Mirello - Brand New
Why am I always attracted to interesting-sounding voices? Amie's sound is like a mix of country, jazz and blues. The song feels genuine and fresh (just as fresh-faced as she looks). Two thumbs up and I hope to hear more from her!
Urban Rock Band - Black Morning
They call themselves Hip-hop meets the Beatles and I say more at Pearl Jam with this song. More creative and different than a lot of the mainstream garbage out there. Once again, proof that Hip-hop is not dead, one just has to seep through the trash floating above!
Thenewno2 - Yomp
If you know my favorite bands from the 60s to now, you will understand why I like this group and the song. I guess being George Harrison's son has its benefits! Dhani!
3 Doors Down - Let Me Be Myself
Most people have probably heard this song from the Geico commercial with the cavemen, well the video expands on this concept. When I think about it the song is too good to have a video like this; it distracts my attention from the emotional and uplifting element of the song. The song can be a hit without the funny gimmick of the cavemen.

Leave Heavy D alone! Stop trying to put the guy in a box; he is not the greatest reggae singer in history, but he is pretty good and the song is sweet!

A rock version of a classic George Michael song? I am not sure about this one, but Shaun's voice is great as usual. On the other hand, what's up with the "video game" video? I understand the 80s references, but am I suppose to laugh instead of take the song seriously?
Tyler Woods - Slow Jam/Relations
K'Jon and Tyler are my R&B heroes right now! Tyler is bringing back the old school slow jam. I am starting to beleive his statement that he is the next Curtis Mayfield and shouts to 9th wonder for introducing such talent.

My favorite Reggae Jew is back! Matisyahu always finds a way to bring light and joy to my day!

Shakira - She Wolf (Loba)
What happened to the old Shakira, the one with darker colored hair and a guitar? Is it just me or is she trying too hard to be liked by the mainstream audience? Or maybe she just has too much bleach in her hair and the fumes are distorting her judgment. I guess after a while the song started to grow on me and it is good to dance to, but it is just not her best song.
Mariah Carey - Obsessed
Mariah Carey is another singer who I miss the old version of, but I do like the song and the video is funny (sorry, Em).

Another uplifting and positive song about how great the music from the past was and still is. I hope Slakah can be the future because he is good!
1) All American Rejects - I Wanna
I like AAR, but what possessed them to record let alone release it as a single. The song is incredibly cheezy, both the lyrics and the music. They sound like a really corny boy band! "I Wanna" definitely will not be one of their hits, no matter how much they want it to.

2) KRS-One and Buckshot - Robot
Let it be KRS-One to be honest about the current state of our industry. We have people who cannot rap (e.g. Soulja Boy) and cannot sing, and yet they are still rewarded and celebrated. So much of music today is unoriginal or it does not sound real, and these two rappers make it clear. Stop treating music as if it is some kind of fad or trend that has to be copied to make money! I could not have said it better myself and it has a beat that you cannot get out of your head!
P.S. It is funny how at the end it is called the official D.O.A. (watch your back, Jay-Z).

Sticking to the topic of original...all I have to say is great song and creative video! Hip-hop that makes you think. Just listen to it for yourself.

Persia (from the show Girlfriends) and her trip-hop cover of Billie Holliday's "Strange Fruit." I love Persia, and I love the original song, but this version is a little much. However, it does have its moments and I am slowly getting used to it.
8) Brittany Boscoe - Blues for Blue/ Black and White
I love the jazzy feeling to both songs, eerie yet beautiful. Brittany's sound is a mix between Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn, two great Jazz legends.

Uplifitng and a great song to wake up to! One of the reasons I love neo-soul and soul music! Check out Michael Jamal Warner in the video:

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
Needing something new to listen to...Here you go!
1) Amerie - Why R U
Amerie has always been one of my favorite singers. However, the beat for this song is the best part of the song. Including the chorus, there are too many awkward parts in the song that do not fit well together (the hook is the best). But I still love her as a singer, especially with her older songs.
2) Letoya Luckett - Not Anymore
Doing the 60s and 70s vibe in songs and videos appeals to my heart. The song does the same. Letoya should have gone solo sooner after she left Destiny's Child and she deserves to be bigger than she is now.
3) Demi Lovato - Here We Go Again
I cannot get this song out of my head. It sounds like a hybrid of Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry's song "Waking Up in Vegas" (one of the few songs I like from her). She is a strong singer who will go far in the future and the performance video is cool. However, the lead guy in the video is definitely not a match for her. P.S. Is it just me or does Demi have a lot of relationship problems? Just saying!
4) Drake- Best I Ever Had (clean version)
For some reason, I like the clean version better. It lets me concentrate on the lyrics not the curses, which are distracting. Listening to it, I realize the Drake is a really clever and skillful rapper. Also, the song is very catchy. However, the video is really stupid! If there was suppose to be a deeper meaning with this, it is not apparent with the jiggling boobs and butts. Unless the girls losing in the end meant something. Still, once again portraying girls with their boobs and butts half-out (I doubt girls wear those outfits in real sports) for a majority of the video dies not prove the point (especially with guys around)!
5) The Foreign Exchange ft. Darien Brockington - Take Off the Blues
I love the song! If I had a man, I would be grooving to this song with him. But since I do not have one, I'll just groove by myself. Once again, this is what real music is from the soulful singing to the silky saxophone (yeah, alliteration). The plus is that the lead girl in the video has locs, like me!
6) Jeremiah - Birthday Sex
I finally decided to put this song on here even though I did not want to. Again, the whole autotune trend is getting on my nerves! This song sounds like a computer on the fritz! If you cannot sing, autotune does not make your voice any better. But if you can sing, why not use your real voice the way it really sounds! It just sounds so unnatural.

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
Here is a few new songs...Take it, it's a gift!
1) Jay-z - D.O.A. (Death of the Autotune)
Finally, someone said it! As Hov himself says in the song, bring back real music and real rap. I'm tired of all these artists using autotune to pretend as if they can sing. For some people it works, such as T-pain (because he can really sing!), but that does not mean that every single artist needs to use it, especially rappers. Go back to rapping and stop singing (or trying to sing)! I digress, the song, the music, the lyrics are perfect, Jay. Keep doing your thing! Nanananananana, hey hey, hey, goodbye!
2) The Alchemist feat. Twista and Maxwell - Smile
Speaking of great rappers... Alchemist and Twista are showing us what creative and original Hip-Hop should be. Also, having Maxwell on the record is definitely a plus. One problem, though, the people in the video who are smiling are a bit awkward. Just saying.
3) Black Eyed Peas - I Got A Feeling
The Black Eyed Peas second single is much better than "Boom Boom Pow." A different sound for the Black Eyed Peas, but the laidback summer feel sounds good. It is a great song to start or end the season, and for graduation parties.
4) Ciara feat Missy Elliot - Work
Once again, referencing "Boom Boom Pow," this is a good party dance song, but that's all it is. I miss the old Ciara, her style and vibe were better. Now she is trying to look like Beyonce (doesn't she look like the "Diva" video). Ciara's voice is not that strong, so a song like this does not flatter her much.
5) Green Day- 21 Guns
Green Day is not my favorite band, but they do have their moments. So far, 21th Century Breakdown has some great songs! Billy's voice does sounds a little weird, but it still works. I love the message of this song because of its message of making love not war and that it sounds like a punk ballad. It is great how Green Day can go from a revolutinary song, like "Know Your Enemy" to a romantic song like this.
6) Linkin Park - New Divide
Linkin Park proving again why they are great. Thier songs are epic! Just as epic as the Transformer's movie, it is as if they were meant to be.
7) The Fallen - Bury Me Alive
The musicians who used to be in Evanescence are now part of a new group called The Fallen with none other than American Idol star -- Carly Smithson. Carly eerily sounds and looks like Amy Lee. I do not know if that will be a good thing (as in bringing Evanescence fans to her side) or a bad thing (splitting the fans of both group, so that they both make less money or that some people think Carly is a copycat). Anyways, the song is cool, but I think Carly needs to do something to separate herself from Amy, which I know she can do.

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
Breathe in, breathe out, count to ten and listen to some new music!
1) Beyonce - Ego
Beyonce should just change her name to Sasha Fierce. So far, I have liked the Sasha Fierce character better than Beyonce herself. First "Single Ladies," then "Diva," and now "Ego." Thank you Beyonce for giving the word "ego" a good name because there is nothing wrong with having a little confidence. On the other hand, why is all of her videos in black and white and the video for this song feels like a combination of the videos for "Diva" and "Single Ladies." Boring! She could have at least let the video go to color after a few seconds.
P.S. I do love her hair in this video! It is fierce like a lion!
Broken Hearted Girl
As a said before, the "Beyonce" side is a little dreary. Spice it up a little! I wish she would do a song like "Listen" again. It was strong yet sensitive.
2) Redman/Methodman ft. Saukretes - A-yo
The dynamic duo of Methodman and Redman are back! They have good lyrics, hot beat, and a catchy chorus -- great formula. Old school rappers are bringing Hip-hop back and I am loving it!
3) Wondergirls- Nobody
This Korean group and their song are adorable and they will be touring with the Jonas Brothers! Woohoo!
4) Pussycat Dolls - Hush Hush Hush Hush
The beginning of this song should have been the way the entire song sounded because it was more heartfelt. Having the disco vibe after ruined it for me. It reminds me too much of Danity Kane's "Damaged." Ewww! If it had a slower beat, it would have worked better. However, I do like the "I Will Surive" reference at the end.
5) Bobby Tinsley - What About Bob? (Throwback song - 2008)
I like this guy's laidback singing. He is reminding me of Frankie J and he seems more genuine than other singers out there (probably because he is using his real naturDave Matthews Band, al voice). A beautifully done and relaxing song.

Doesn't Dave look insane in this video! The lyrics make me feel guilty about being happy while others are suffering. Or maybe he is just saying life is full of ups and downs for everyone, so while we are up, we should help those who are down. Or maybe that this world is just crazy and keeps getting worse. Or maybe ... I should stop thinking. Weird video though, but great, thought-provoking song.

However, at the same time, "Paranoid" is actually cool, mostly due to the haunting video with Rihanna in it and the chorus that Kanye does not sing on. It is very different than the other sing-songy tracks that he put out before and I like it.

The Dream is not that great of an artist and "Walking On the Moon" is ok, but I cannot get any of his songs out of my head, including this one. It is like Akon all over again! He's best when he is collaborating with someone else. Still, once again, Kanye ruins the song by putting himself on it!

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
Delivering a truckload of new music to you:
1) The Fray - Never Say Never
Again, why do musicians keep releasing a weak first single. After I heard "You Found Me," I thought it was okay, but I felt it was sentimental just to be sentimental. It did not have the same strong feeling as "How to Save a Life." Now the Fray has released "Never Say Never," and the song is both meaningful and powerful, the latter was a quality that the first single did not have. "Never Say Never" is reminiscent of the "epic-sounding" Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and should be a bigger hit than it is now.

2) Mandy Moore - Any of the Day of the Week
Mandy Moore is back and has gone country. It is very catchy and I can imagine myself line-dancing to it. However, the video is kind of stupid. Most of the video she is just standing there with a mean look on her face staring at martial artists and then at the end kicks one of them in the balls. At least that part was hilarious!

3) Cage the Elephant - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
Velvet Underground meets The Raconteurs -- great lyrics, great music, great video, the end! (I was suppose to put this video up earlier, but I kept forgetting. Sorry!)

4) Elliot Yamin - Fight for Love
Elliot Yamin's voice is beautiful but it is way better than his songs. Don't get me wrong, his songs are good, but they are a bit mawkish (look it up!) in their delivery, especially for his voice.
5) 311 - Hey You
Just as their album suggests, this song is uplifting. Definitely a summer anthem! Plus, the guy with the advertising board is cool!
6) Diane Birch - Nothing But a Miracle
Diane Birch's voice is amazing and soulful; she reminds me of Joni Mitchell and Carol King. Listen to "So Far Away" by Carol King and you will understand.
7) Taking Back Sunday - Sink Into Me
Taking Back Sunday is just pure fun! Adam and his voice are on fire!
8) Jordin Sparks - Battlefield
For some reason, the live version of this song that I heard on American Idol was better. Maybe because she had more attitude singing it and I could actually hear the background singers, which made it stronger. The beginning of the recorded version is weaker and I expected the video to be darker and a bit creepier. But I guess Jordin too much of a good girl to portray that image. Oh well. In the end, it is a great song, mainly because Ryan from One Republic co-wrote it.
9) Billy Boy on Poison - On My Way
First of all, the video was directed by Kiefer Sutherland. How cool is that! Bringing 60s pychadelic and 70s glam rock sound to today, this group is one of my new favorite bands!
10) Mos Def - Casa Bey
One of my favorite rappers of all time, Mos Def, is back with a new album. He is who I call a true rapper and he never fails to deliver with the ill beats and lyrics. Not only that, but he is also showing his singing voice. "Don't stop his go!" I just don't want to be that close to his face as shown in his video; can you please zoom out a bit! He's still cute though.
11) Kristina Debarge - Goodbye
Debarge's daughter definitely has her father, Jame's, talent. However, again her voice is better than the song. Still, it is pretty good for her first song and a good summer dance song.
12) Jonas Brothers - Fly With Me
Once again, I know a lot you do not like them, so I will keep it short. It is a beautiful song, especially Nick's piano playing at the beginning. Two songs I like already off their new album. This might be a good one!
13) Kings of Leon - Notion
Third song to prove why Kings of Leon rock! At times it does take a few listens to get use to their songs, but once you do, you cannot deny that they are one of the best bands out there right now. Caleb voice is gritty and it is just the way I like it! No one can sing this song better than him.
14) The Knux - Fire
Another song that I have been meaning to put on here earlier, but kept forgetting (so many songs, so little time). If you think Hip-hop is dead, then just listen to this and you will be proven wrong. Smart rapper who actually say something and so not just rely on the beat still exist. Nerdy rappers 4 life!

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
New music coming your way! Watch out:
1) Kelly Clarkson- I Do Not Hook Up
What is it about Kelly Clarkson's songs that make me hate them in the beginning and then a few weeks later, love them. "I Do Not Hook Up" is a fun, rocking song and it has a good message: girls, do not be easy and lower your standards for any guy because you are better than that. The video is actually funny, mainly because Kelly looks like a dork when she is trying to be sexy. Now I cannot get it out of my head!
2) Incubus- Black Heart Inertia
Simply, awesome song and awesome video! Making fun of celebrity egoism has never looked so good (Brandon is cute!)! Plus, the lyrics create a poetic love song, but that is the usual with Incubus. Go, Incubus!
3) Taurus Riley - Start Anew
After I heard "She's Royal," I fell in love with Mr. Riley. With "Start Anew," I love him even more. This song is telling women in abusive relationships to respect themselves and leave their men (although, they are boys) because it is not really love. The reason why Tarrus Riley is so great is that in his song he displays a lot of respect for woman and that always makes a man so much more appealing.
4) U2 - Magnificent
This song brings back the old U2 that I was missing; it is very inspiring and beautiful. U2 proves again why they are still on top and again why "love is magnificent" because it creates music like this.
5) Parachute - She is Love
Several months ago, I came across a group named Sparky's Flaw and heard some of their songs. I thought they were amazing. Then a few weeks ago, I came across a Nivea commercial playing the song "She is Love." Come to find out that the group that was once Sparky's Flaw is now Parachute. Even with the name change, I still think they are great and the song is lovely (haha).

6) Jonas Brothers- Paranoid
I know, I know. But I cannot help it, it is the JONAS BROTHERS! So, I'll keep it short. "Paranoid" is not as corny as their previous songs, it is as cathcy as "Burning Up," and both the song and video show that the brothers are growing up. Ok, bye.
7) Nickelback - If Today Was Your Last Day
Once again, Nickelback is one of the few mainstream rock bands to have thought-provoking, inspiring, and positive lyrics. At times they seem a little too sentimental, but they are good for the soul.

"Brand New Flava In Your Ear"
It's time for some new music!
1) Maxwell- Pretty Wings
After five years away from music, Maxwell is back and he is as good as the day he left. As usual, Maxwell's voice and the song are smooth, soulful, beautiful and sexy. I wish I was one of those girls in the video, so he could sing to me. If I was the girl from the doomed relationship, I would immediately crawl back to him after hearing this song.
2) Franz Ferdinand - No, You Girls
Why do some artists have a really bad or "just ok" first single and then a really great second single. After I heard "Ulysses," I thought Franz Ferninand were a bit off. Now, with "No You Girls," their back in their groove. The songand video are catchy and "HOT!" in a classy way.
3) Corneille - Back to Life
He is a German-born Rwandan who has a Canadian passport and sings in French and English (huh?). But do not be distracted by those details, he is a wonderful singer and this song proves it. He definitely on the same level with other Neo-soul singers, like previously mentioned Maxwell and D'angelo. This is such a lovely song; I want him to sing this to me. I could listen to it all day, specifically with a cute guy. Any takers?
4) Amy Lavere- Killing Him
The lyrics to this song makes me think the wife who killed her husband is crazy, but Amy Lavere soft vocals is so soothing that I forget how tragic this song is. I love how the song is, as I call it, like "Boho Jazz/Soul." Its jazzy and swinging, but at the same time laidback. A good song to just sit back, bop your head and tap your feet to it.
5) Oren Lavie - Her Morning Elegance
What is great about this song? It is tender, relaxing and has touching lyrics. I would easily either fall asleep to it or wake up happily to it. But what makes it great is the stop-motion video. For some reason (like with several other songs), it sounds better as I watch the video; it is just so cool.
6) Ida Maria - I Like You So Much Better When You're... (you'll find out the rest!)
This is so hilarious! It is so catchy and dirty at the same time. One of my new guilty pleasures to sing, mainly because that is what I want the cute guys of the world to do (ha, ha!). Does the video look familiar? Well, it is the same director who did the Franz Ferdinand video "Take Me Out."
